The 2022 Moore County Women’s Amateur hosted by Southern Pines Golf Club champion is Heidi Rittenhouse from Smithfield, NC with a two-day gross score of 148. The Friendship Champion (over-all low net) is Amy Cutrell from Chapel Hill.

The Southern Pines Golf Club renovation is still on-going yet many players raved about the layout and conditions. It is certainly a gem that will continue to be polished and is a fine addition to the Ross Resorts collection.

Once again, the players and sponsors for the Moore County Women’s Amateur have come through to support Friend to Friend, the Carthage based women’s shelter.

Donations gathered through direct sponsorship, entry fees, raffle and a lively auction collected upwards of $12,000 which brings the total donated since 2014 to over $70,000.

The dollar value for another of the event’s annual programs called “The Shoebox Project” is unknown but is probably valued around $1,000.  More than 25 players donated a shoe box filled with toiletries and gifts for Friend to Friend to distribute to newly arriving women and children. This helps those who come to the shelter with only the clothes they are wearing. 

Anne Friesen, Friend to Friend Executive Director was on hand to accept the offerings and made an important presentation to the players; reminding them of the overwhelming need to care for women in crisis and victims of human trafficking.
